Remembrance Day is an important occasion that is observed every year on November 11th. It is a day to remember and honor the brave people who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom. One way to teach children about the significance of this day is by making a construction paper poppy craft to wear in remembrance.

To make this craft, you will need red and black construction paper, scissors, glue, and a black marker. Start by drawing a large circle on the red construction paper and a smaller circle on the black construction paper. Cut out both circles and then draw a Poppy flower shape on the red construction paper. Cut it out with scissors.  Then glue the black circle in the center of the poppy.

Next, take a black marker and outline the poppy flower and it's petals.

This simple craft is a fun and educational way to teach kids about the importance of Remembrance Day. It can also be used as a decoration or as a gift for a veteran or family member who has served in the military.

Tissue Paper Poppy Craft

Tissue paper poppies are a great craft project, especially for remembrance day or any other occasion that calls for a symbol of remembrance. To make your own tissue paper poppy, you will need green pipe cleaners, red tissue paper,  and a black marker.

Take 12 red sheets of 15cm X 15cm squares from the a pack of red tissue paper.

Lay the pieces of tissue paper evenly on top of each other and then fold the pieces up with a zig-zag fold.

Using a green pipe cleaner to wrap it twice around the middle of the tissue paper. Twist another pipe cleaner around to secure it to the tissue paper.

On every one of the folded tissue papers, peel every layer of tissue paper upwards to form the poppy's petals. Then the layers it will form imto a flower shape.

With your fingers to move the tissue paper petals make a space in the middle of the flower where you will use black permanent marker to make a small circle for the flower center. Leave to dry.

Then attach another pipe cleaner to the bottom of the first pipe cleaner that is wrapped around the tissue paper to create the stem of your poppy. Use another pipe cleaner to wrap around the stem of poppy to give it a more appealing look and to help your poppy stand up.

Repeat these steps make a bouquet of poppies. When you have completed this craft you will have a beautiful tissue paper poppy that you can use to commemorate special events or just to brighten up your day.

Giant Poppy Craft Idea

Creating a giant Bristol board poppy craft is a fun and engaging activity that can be done by people of all ages. This craft is perfect for displaying in your window during Remembrance Day, or for any occasion where you want to show your support for our troops.

To get started, you will need some red Bristol board, black Bristol board, scissors, a black marker, glue stick and a pencil. Begin by drawing a large poppy shape onto the red Bristol board using the pencil. Cut out the poppy shape carefully with the scissors, making sure to follow the lines as closely as possible.

Next, cut out a circle shape of a size that would be a suitable size for your poppy's center from the black Bristol board.  Glue the black circle onto the center of the red poppy using some craft glue or tape. Then outline the red Bristol board of your poppy flower with a black marker. You can also add a stem and some leaves if you'd like.

Finally, display your giant Bristol board poppy in your window for everyone to see. This craft is a great way to show your appreciation for our troops and to honor those who have served our country.

Steps to create this Poppy Painting 

Step 1: Draw a Poppy on Cardboard and cut it out.  

Step 2: Outline Poppy with Washable Markers in red for the flower and green for the stem. On a Canvas or Cardstock.

Step 2: Discuss with your class or children which colors they see on their art project. Which colors that they think should be added to complete their Poppy.

Step 3: Using Washable Markers complete the Poppy shape. Then add squiggles of the named colors in areas that are to be painted with those colors.

Step 4: Provide your Munchkin or Munchkins with Watercolor paints, a paint brush and water in a cup or small bowl.

Step 5: Provide instructions to begin painting with Red #1 for the Poppy, Green #2 for the stem, Blue #3 for the the background and Black #4 for the flower center.
